FWD Becomes First U.S. Based Voice 2.0 Network To Deploy iotum™ Relevance Engine™
(Ottawa, Ontario and Mellville, NY-December 5, 2005) iotumTM, developers of the iotum Relevance EngineTM, and FWD, the largest open network service provider for person-to-person advanced real-time IP communications, today announced an agreement to offer iotum’s Relevance Engine as an application on the FWD platform available as a trial service to FWD’s customers.
“The FWD community is made up of some of the most experienced, open-minded and advanced users of IP telephony,” said Alec Saunders, CEO and Co-Founder of iotum. “FWD’s pioneering work in advanced voice applications makes working with FWD an obvious starting point to demonstrate the value of relevance-enabled voice applications.”
The iotum Relevance Engine is the world’s first smart platform to intelligently assess the relevance of a phone call, and route it to the most appropriate devices across any network. By focusing on providing relevance-enabled voice services that are tailored to the personal needs and preferences of today’s ultra-connected mobile professionals, iotum helps service providers like FWD deploy profitable, next-generation services quickly and easily.
“The iotum Relevance Engine is paradigm-shifting technology”, said Peter Rust, CEO of FWD. “It’s a natural fit with our users, and the service is one of a series of applications that we are looking to offer to our users through partnerships with leading-edge developers like iotum.”
iotum and FWD will conduct network integration and user trials starting in January. In addition, the two companies plan to jointly expand the Voice 2.0 marketplace through the sharing of business opportunities, technology, promotions and business development efforts.
“As the value of network minutes decreases,” said FWD Founder and IP Communications Entrepreneur Jeff Pulver, “Voice 2.0 applications like the iotum Relevance Engine will become the new drivers of value in the communications industry.”
FWD provides an innovative, open, standards-based IP platform that enables people to enhance and control their communications experience. The FWD platform allows users to communicate using VoIP, Instant Messaging or video and supports the ability to communicate with other providers’ services. FWD is a Pulver.com company, founded by IP Communications entrepreneur, Jeff Pulver.
Founded in 2003, privately held iotum is a Voice 2.0 company setting out to shape a world where devices and services work seamlessly together to let people communicate with who they want, when they want and on the device they want.
