Co Founders Dr. Howard Thaw and Alec Saunders To Present, Speak and Moderate At Four Leading Technology Conferences

(Ottawa, Ontario -January 23, 2006) For Ottawa, Ontario based start-up iotum, developers of the Relevance Engine, and Internet Telephony Magazine’s 2005 Product of the Year that makes Internet based communications timely, it’s starting to look like the next three months for the company’s two founders will be more like a blur, than a walk in the park.

That makes it all very reminiscent of the 90s, the era that spurred the growth of many technology companies into household names today.

The company’s two founders, Dr. Howard Thaw and Alec Saunders just began an almost non-stop whirlwind of touring, talking, presenting and meeting criss-crossing North America, as they begin to tell the world about iotum, their Relevance Engine platform, and where the company is headed with new products, partnerships and services.

Back from a successful CES where Saunders moderated a panel at the Consumer VoIP Summit leading experts from Earthlink, Yahoo and Microsoft’s MSN through a very timely Q&A, and after a short week in their Ottawa lab, the two have ventured off to the west coast for meetings with potential technology partners, analysts and investors. They will then split up, dividing and conquering as they head off to two trend-setting VoIP’s conferences, the O’Reilly Emerging Telephony Conference and TMC Net’s “Internet Telephony Conference and Expo” in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

COO of iotum, Dr. Howard Thaw, a six time start-up veteran travels to Florida to appear on Internet Telephony’s panel “A Look At The Hottest New Services” on Wednesday January 25th starting at 1:45 PM. Dr. Thaw will talk about iotum and what it means during the session that will explore new ways for carriers to increase profit, arbitrage VoIP and cell rates, increase service coverage, and expand service minutes — all with differentiated service offerings.

On Thursday January 26th 3:00 PM at the O’Reilly Emerging Telephony Conference “Voice 2.0 Manifesto” author Alec Saunders will present on the topic of Filtering Relevant Communication. Saunders will explain what you get when you extend the protocols of the web into the old world of telephony, taking the audience through the mash-up of the web, voice, data, and presence as that mix transforms communications applications and networks at a breakneck speed. Saunders, will also provide a peek at how iotum’s Relevance Engine mashes up voice, desktop data, presence, and web protocols to contextually filter communications requests in today’s always connected world.

In February the duo will travel to Phoenix, AZ, the site of the technology industry’s most influential early peek conference, DEMO 2006. DEMO 2006, which is scheduled for February 6-8 at the South Pointe Resort in Phoenix, AZ, annually brings together emerging companies with new services or products that are about to be unveiled for both the business and consumer markets. At DEMO, companies like iotum present their new offerings before an audience of leading business, consumer and technology trade media, analysts and investors. It will be at DEMO that iotum begins to show the world how timely and appropriate technology based on the Relevance Engine can truly be.

The whirlwind three months all wraps up at the Voice Over IP industries annual Spring VON conference, held March 14-17 in San Jose, CA. There, Thaw will moderate a panel while Saunders conducts meetings and briefings in a private meeting room away from the noise and crowds of the show floor. Saunders will demonstrate what was unveiled at DEMO in February to analysts, media and leading industry executives in VoIP industry.

“We’ve been gearing up for all this since September when we first came out of stealth mode as we started to tell the world about iotum and the Relevance Engine,” Saunders said. “It’s been a lot of hard work, sleepless nights and painstaking efforts by our entire team, but everything Howard and I envisioned when we began in 2003 is starting to become reality. And we’re just getting started.”
