Vendors selected for the "Cool Vendor report" are innovative, impactful and intriguing

OTTAWA, April 20, 2007 – iotum, provider of "New Presence" and relevance-enabled voice services tailored to the needs of today’s ultra-connected mobile professionals, said today it is extremely proud to be listed among "Cool Vendors" in the "Cool Vendors in Enterprise Communications, 2007," * report by Gartner, Inc.

In an overview, the authors of the report said: "The vendors in this report address two important areas that pose a challenge to communications planners. The first, network infrastructure, is costly to acquire and manage, but must provide enough scale and flexibility to support future needs. The second, emerging productivity-enhancing applications, make personal communication systems easier to manage and unlock the power of video to improve group interaction."

The Gartner report had this advice for enterprise users: "Organizations can improve knowledge worker productivity by reducing ‘communications overload’ with more automated presence management."

Earlier this year, iotum — which focuses on personal and group productivity — introduced Talk-Now, a revolutionary "New Presence" application for BlackBerry® devices that lets users see at a glance who is available to talk, and share their availability with contacts of their choosing. By combining the capabilities of a to-do list and a buddy list, iotum’s Talk-Now helps to eliminate phone tag by automating presence management and allowing users to know when the people they need to speak with are available and to see who is waiting to speak with them.

"We’re delighted to have been named a ‘Cool Vendor’ by Gartner," said iotum CEO Alec Saunders, "Our Talk-Now application truly does change the game for business communicators by helping to eliminate telephone tag, and in the process accelerates communications-intensive business processes like sales, support and marketing."

iotum is also a member of the 2007 "Pulver 100," a list of the top privately held growth companies in the converged worlds of media, Internet, communications and entertainment. Also, iotum has been named to VoIPNews’ list of "25 Most Interesting VoIP Startups" for 2007.
